“Builders of Leaf Houses” wins Analog’s Readers’ Choice Award
Woo-hoo! Just heard from the editor at Analog that “Builders of Leaf Houses,” which ran in their December 2015 issue, won the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Novella. You can probably hear me crowing all the way to Mexico!
This novella was initially supposed to be a second novel with the characters from “Beyond the Gates,” but when the publisher dropped me, I scaled the idea back to novella length. It’s been kicking around in my files file for more than ten years, and I finally polished it up and sent it off. I’m so grateful to the good folks at Analog for giving me the opportunity to share the story of Motherlove and her tribe of Thinking Ones. Wish I could go to the Nebulas to accept the award in person, but I don’t think that’s in the cards.
Congratulations. Leaf Houses was on my AnLab ballot for Novella. 🙂 Very nice story.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
